Elias, Richard Fabian was my grandfather’s brother. My grandfather was Ewald Fabian, and he had just one son, Tom Fabian (b 10/31/31) in Berlin. They emigrated to NY after 10 years as refugees. I am interested in Richard’s family and offspring, if anyone. Where are they now?

I am writing a book about Dr. Joseph Sonnabend who was an important scientist and physician and also a music composer. He spent some of his childhood in Bulawayo and was from the Jewish community. His mother, Fira, was a physician , and sadly died in 1946 in Bulawayo. His father was a university professor in South Africa. He had a sister named Yolanda. I am interested in learning more about his parents and their role in the Jewish community. I am also interested in anyone who has a connection to the Bulawayo community in Israel and whether there are any Sonnabends still there. I believe Joseph\'s father (Henry, Yehezkel Sonnabend) was the first mayor of Ashkelon. If you have any information, I would be delighted to receive your message. Thank you.

My mother was Steffi Fabian.. Her Jewish family goes back a long way back into Pomerania/Prussia.. Big families of decent people and then cut short by Shoah. Those that survived scattered and now can be seen on charts in My Heritage and Geni. My third cousins would have been Richard and Gertrude Fabian who reached sanctuary in Rhodesia.
All of you.. Please dig around and find me copies of ephemera etc of anything relating to their years as refugees in Rhodesia and Nyasaland, I shall be pleased to try reciprocating
