Hi, After reading your story I just wanted to say that you are an exceptional person and I'm so glad to know that you have the faith in God that you do and trust me I have had to depend on Him myself. I haven't had some of the trials you've faced but did have a marriage to end after 16 yrs. It was disastrous and as in your case brought a lot of damage to the children involved and to me. My youngest who is 17 still battles with a lot of hurt. Enough of that topic, I don't want to give the enemy anymore glory than what he's already gotten. I pray that God will continue to bless you, give you great wisdom and peace as you desire to do His will for your life. I may not ever meet you but there was a reason I came across your site. Stay strong in the power of His might, put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. In Christ, Bernadette Upson |

Hello! Thanks for sharing your story, makes me so sad, but also makes me feel as if we are not alone. Our daughter Isabelle was born with Trisomy 18 here in Germany in 1995. The doctors said she would live only a week or two, if that, but our daughter Isabelle, despite all of her pain and suffering, stayed with us for almost 6 months. She gave us so much and even after so many years we miss her every minute. I am sorry for you that you lost Audrey too and my prayers are with you, as I know the pain of your loss never ceases to go away. Sincerely, Aileen |

But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:16 This child's story is a story of inspiring strength and quiet leadership. After listening to this little one's mother tell the story, it is totaly clear that this child was blessed and HAS blessed more lives one might realize. Short that this daughter's life might have been. Her life has touched many. A baby born that others might know just how precious thier own lives truly are. One could say 'This was just one life. Just one of many. How much value could it truly have had?' This story is not about one life. It is about all the lives it has touched... and saved. How many people are now closer to thier Lord Jesus Christ because of this one tiny baby that so many said would never live long enough to amount to anything. 'Incompatable with life', as they so blandly said. Remember that seven people, and note the number, seven people gave thier lives to God at this child's memorial. How many will those seven guide to Him in turn? How many will those that the seven guided in turn guide to Him? Think on it. |

6 weeks prior to delivery, our baby showed signs of fetal distress while at a prenatal visit. She had to be delivered the next day by C-section. We could tell by the tone of the staff that something was very wrong with her, I peeked on her chart and saw that they suspected Trisomy 18. That night I researched it on line all night. The next day, the results were back in from the Mayo Clinic (after one weeek) and we were told she had T-18 and that we should try "comfort care" for her (i.e. death). We would not do that. She was born Oct. 26, 2007 and will be released soon (January 2008) with no surgeries, no codes and no other major intervention. We never knew she had it, it was missed during pregenancy. Day by day we live our life and every day we share with her is our blessing. Please visit her page on carepages.com and her name is auponluck. We just lost an unborn son at 16 weeks gestation due to trisomy 18. He had a giant omphalacele and all of the anomolies and indicators of internal and external deformities. We had him cremated 2 weeks ago and just had his ashes blessed at mass by our priest yesterday morning. I find it hard to make it through each day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I am so glad that you got to love, hug, and hold her unlike us. God Bless You! Christine Bennett (Tampa, Florida) |

My daughter, Amy, could not live. It was almost 5 years ago. Doctors told us they will not do anything for her because it is the hospital policy. We had no choice but to give up. Everytime I come across a story about trisomy 18 babies being alive, I wonder. If I was somewhere else, if I was in a different hospital with a different policy? Wouldn't my Amy be alive, at least for a while? I really, really, miss her. (Sorry if my English is strange.) |

Thank you for taking your precious time to share your experiences and your story. SO many people are not aware of illnesses that afflict children like this. Those like yourself are helping inform so many, including myself! I would much rather read a personal experience than read clinical studies. Godspeed! |

I was very touched by all of your story. You and your family are a perfect example of the triumph of the human spirit. I know too well the fears that come with pregnancy and pray for the continued strength of all of you. I find myself especially moved right now, due to the fact I am again pregnant. Again my prayers are with you and your family. |

Hello to the Upson family, My name is Sara, and I to have a interesting story. I'm 17, and my mother and father are in there mid-forties. My mother found out she was 6months pregnant a couple months ago, and recently gave birth to my little sister, Grace Elivia, she weighed 3lbs, 6.3 oz. She was 16 inches long. When my mom was 7 months pregnant Grace was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. We had never heard of a disorder like this. We didn't know about any chances of her living, and we weren't sure what her outcome if she could live would be to have a "normal life"... Grace would have been 3 weeks old on Thursday. In our town, my mother's doctor has only saw 2 cases of this disorder. The first baby blessed this world with it's life for 11 hours. My sister lived for 1 day, 3 hours, & 15 min. All my mom ever said she wanted was to give this baby a chance to live. And thats exactly what she did. Columbus, hospital had told my mom they could go ahead and induce her at 7 months and the baby would be still born. But my mom wouldn't hear of that.. She had a little angel and we were blessed to have her in our presence for such time. I just want to tell you I could never imagine what, your family goes through every day. It has only been 3 weeks for me, but it honestly still doesn't seem like she's gone. And your right God is supposed to have a reason for everything. I know personally that you do wonder why, what was his reason to take your baby. But I guess we will never know. But I can see right now your little audrey and my little sister grace in heaven looking down on all of us. I just want you to know that this all meant our little angels were special, special enough that god didn't want to wait. He needed them now.. I'm honestly not a very religous person, but my mother is. I will be thinking about you and your family. If you ever would just like to talk feel free to e-mail me. And Congratulations on having such special time with your little angel... take care.. -Sara- |
