E’ Raye la grande vincitrice dell’edizione 2024 dei Brit Awards, il massimo premio in ambito musicale assegnato in Gran Bretagna. Nominata in sette categorie, la cantante londinese, classe 1997, ha portato a casa sei statuette - tre delle quali nelle categorie maggiori Artist Of The Year, Album Of The Year (per “My 21st Century Blues”) e Song Of The Year (per “Escapism”). Nelle edizioni precedenti dei premi nessuno era mai riuscito a vincere tanto: il record, fino ai Brit di quest’anno, era nelle mani di Adele, Harry Styles e Blur, ai quali - in anni diversi - erano stati assegnati un massimo di quattro premi nell’ambito della stessa edizione.


Padre britannico e madre di origini svizzere e ghanesi, Raye - nome d’arte di Rachel Agatha Keen - si è messa in luce nel 2016 come ospite nei brani “By Your Side” di Jonas Blue e “You Don't Know Me” di Jax Jones, ma è discograficamente attiva dal 2014, anno di pubblicazione del suo primo EP, “Welcome to the Winter”. Autrice per artisti di grande popolarità come Beyoncé, Little Mix, Rihanna, David Guetta, John Legend ed Ellie Goulding, Raye ha spedito sui mercati il suo primo album solista, “My 21st Century Blues”, lo scorso anno: pubblicato per l’etichetta indipendente “Human Re Sources”, il disco è stato certificato disco d’argento nel Regno Unito, dove si è spinto fino alla seconda posizione in classifica.
