Short-eared Owl etc.

26-Oct-15
One of our usual car-birding sorties around the Levels, turned up a Great White Egret feeding along the margin of the River Brue, just up-river from Westhay Village road bridge; a Short-eared Owl hotly pursued by 3 crows as it flew southwards over Canada Farm Lake towards Shapwick Moor(?) as seen from Catcott Lows; 5 Stonechats, 3 on Tealham Moor and 2 on King's Sedge Moor, and big nos of Starlings as large flocks flew north over KSM an hour prior to dusk.

Re: Short-eared Owl etc.

I had a probable Short-Eared Owl on Sunday morning at Shapwick Heath about 100m west of Meare scrape over the trees. Was only in view for a matter of seconds but could have been the same bird in the area.
