Last night I did a sweep around the southern end of the Quantocks, from Thurloxton to Bishops Lydeard, scanning stubble and freshly drilled arable fields with the infra red night vision, and in this area I saw fourteen woodcock, as well as two tawny owls in the vicinity of Pickney Lane.
