Late report for Shapwick Heath/Meare Heath

Apologies for late posting but only just started to post our sightings on here. On the afternoon of Monday 14 September had a Black-necked Grebe on Noah's Lake showing well just in front of Noah's Hide amongst a group of Little Grebes which reacted aggressively to this vistor every time it surfaced after diving for food. 4 Black Terns also showed well from Noah's Hide and a Great White Egret was in the bay by the entrance track to Noah's Hide. A Garganey was on the drained lagoon as well 10 Black-tailed Godwits. One of the most surprising sights was a 'flock' of 20 Snipe flying over Meare Heath.

Welcome to the SOS website. I guess that I met you at Exminster on Tuesday watching the Grey Phalarope etc. and you mentioned the Black necked Grebe at Noah's.

Thanks Martin, yes that was us at Exminster. Hopefully we can become regular posters on here as frequent visitors to the Somerset Levels. Thanks to all the Forum members for all their help, hope to meet many more of you out in the field soon!
