Purple heron and Osprey Ham Wall

An osprey appeared north of the first viewing platform and flew south out of view. Would be curious to know if it was a different bits to the Noah's Lake bird (sightings were at 11.00 and 11.30am). Then at 11.50ish. A juvenile purple heron appeared north west of the first viewing platform and flew south eastwards dropping down out of view into Loxton's. Also bittern and hoppy. With osprey and black tern (possibly two) at Noah's Lake earlier

Re: Purple heron and Osprey Ham Wall

There was definitely just one Black Tern and 2 Ospreys over Noah's Lake during the morning the second Osprey eventually disappearing early p.m. leaving just the single Black Tern. The remaininng Osprey fished successfully just after 1300.

Re: Purple heron and Osprey Ham Wall

1st summer Purple Heron seen at around 1150 by Alan, Peter Grant and myself in flight at the back of Meare Heath heading towards Ham Wall - see "Meare Heath Scrape" thread.

Spent a couple of hours (in vain) in Tor View Hide (Loxton's) this afternoon hoping for a reappearance but did see 2 GWE's, a male Marsh Harrier and a Hobby.
