Exmoor 24th April

Despite a misty start a great day mainly for migratory songbirds - the highlights being :

4 Grasshopper Warblers
2 Wood Warblers
3 Pied Flycatchers
2 Wheatears
2 Whinchats
4 Redstarts
1 Curlew
4 Cuckoos
2 Grey Wagtails
2 Tree Pipits
2 Treecreepers
2 Ravens
1 GS Woodpecker
1 Green Woodpecker
Numerous Willow Warblers, Buzzards, & Swallows heading north.

Areas visited: Dunkery via Rex Stile path; East Water to Aller Combe; Chetsford Water to Embercombe, & Horner Wood via Pool Bridge.

Forget to add at least 3 pairs of Stonechat around the moor and also a male Reed Bunting at Chetsford Water.

Also took some photos of a first-summer male Pied Flycatcher with a metal ring on its right leg. It hadn't wasted much time and had seemingly attracted a female who had already chosen her nest box!
