Whilst watching the resident Kingfisher at Bishops Palace moat in Wells on Sunday, another came in from nowhere and viciously attacked it!
A birder present said the birds were actually 'dancing', but it looked like a pretty aggressive 'dance' to me!

Hi Carl , Kingfishers do indeed fight and it can be a very violent encounter, I watched a pair battle for an Hour the birds taking a rest from time to time then resuming the battle, on several occasions the birds locked beaks one attempting to drown the other ,it was quite a spectacular fight.
