Happy new year Eian. Another full day in the hide proved rewarding today by the nice amount you spotted then. Well done. Male Merlin aswell!
Best Regards,
Lee.

Re: Catcott Lows 02.01.15.

Hello Lee,

Happy New Year To you Too.

Not A Bad 'Shift' Today At All.

The Merlin Showed Well Early On And Although In Juvenile (Brown) Plumage It's Size Suggested Juvenile Male.

Still No Hen Harriers Though.

Regards,

Eian.

Re: Catcott Lows 12 01.15.

1000-1430 hrs Mon. 12th. A single BAR TAILEd G'WIT plus around 200 Black Tld. G'Wits this morning , the Bar Wit flew off west calling. 3-500+ Lapwing mostly on the adjoining field to the north of the hide but now able to land and loaf at the far end of the Lows. Very few Snipe seen. 4 individual Marsh Harriers seen an adult male, a well marked female, green tagged L1 and one other unmarked juv type. A couple of Sparrow Hawks and 4 Buzzards were the only other positive raptors but a small fast falcon passing low north of the hide was probably a Merlin (brown model)! Usual ducks Wigeon, Shoveller, Teal and Pintail in good numbers with a few Gadwall and Mallard and for the first time for a long time (at least for me)there were half a dozen Tufted Duck on the central ditch.
