Steart Marshes - 29 December 2014 (afternoon)

1 Merlin (female/juvenile type) feeding on prey on a mound out on the marshes.

1 Peregrine (adult female) - flew closeby and perched on a distant pylon.

4 Kestrel - still and hover-hunting.

1 Sparrowhawk (adult female) - perched for ten minutes then flew off very low, apparently hunting.

6 Common Buzzard - loafing about on low perches and the ground.

1 Short-eared Owl - quartering above Otterhampton Marshes.

Also:

1 Great White Egret - flew in and landed in front of Mendip Hide and remained feeding for at least two hours.

7+ Grey Heron
1 Kingfisher - fishing in the channel which feeds the East Lagoon.
50+ Common Snipe - presumably arrived with the cold weather.
350+ Golden Plover
2 Common Gull
15+ Redwing
4 Stonechat
