Kennard Moor

A walk for an hour on Kennard this afternoon produced:
• 40+ Teal
• 25 Mute Swans
• A ’siege’ of 13 Herons
• 3 Little Egrets
• 9 Snipe – great to see them zipping away again!
• 3 Buzzards
• 2 Kestrels
• Also Reed Bunting, Meadow Pipit, Redwing, Fieldfare, Song Thrush & Great Tit.
• 4 Roe Deer grazing

A good walk around the moor early afternoon.
Teal 150
Mallard 50
Gadwall 3
Stonechat 13 - A very high count for the winter but clearly benefiting from the mild start to the winter?
Heron 7
Little Egret 4
Snipe 5
Buzzard 4
Peregrine – Juvenile
Also: Kestrel, Stock Dove, Reed Bunting, Goldfinch, Green Woodpecker, Meadow Pipit, Cormorant, Fieldfare & Redwing.

Late morning today

Teal numbers up to 300+ - in the main ditches on the moor – A very high number for the moor.
• Little Egrets up to 10
• Add Raven & Skylark to also!
• Stonechat numbers were well down but there was quite a biting wind at times?
