Great Northern Diver

Single juvenile at Cheddar this morning. Only appeared after standing by the Cheddar tower for an hour, but then showed well for 10 min in the middle of the res. When I left it was circling high up, so may have left. 300 Pochard and 1 Red - crested Pochard female but could not find the hybrid. 1 Little Grebe, 90 Mute Swan. Coot numbers have dropped since Friday as 'only' 2200 present.

Re: Great Northern Diver

The Diver was South of the Axbridge Tower at 10:15 working up to 50 metres from the shore. Also, a Whooper Swan arrived from the West at 10:30 and later joined some of the Mute Swan by the Cheddar Tower.

Also noted 1 Meadow Pipit, 1 GS Woodpecker, 15 Teal, 1 Wigeon, 30+ Pied Wagtail, 40+ GC Grebe.

Re: Great Northern Diver

No sign of the diver or the Whooper early/mid pm. The safety boat was out on the res early pm and lots of the duck moving around, so may have pushed new arrivals off site. The fem Rc Pochard was still present.
