For the second morning running a flock of 15 - 25 Fieldfares has moved through the treelines at Helland, North Curry heading southwest. No Redwings accompanying.
A short visit to the New Catcott Fen reserve yesterday ( Mon). lunchtime yielded a flock of around 100 Fiedfare with just a few < 10 Redwings with them .
Ke On the Lows a Peregrine fem and a Female Marsh Harrier were the highlights; with 100 or so Lapwing 50 Wigeon, 20 Teal, a few Soveller and a Little Grebe.
Within the last 2 days the Fieldfare flock (and now it's just a huge collection of feeding and perched birds) has increased to just under 150, and has been joined by 40 - 50 Redwing and a close flock of 50+ Starlings. The small fields within this area are 'alive' with thrushes.
Large flock of possibly 200 fieldfares feeding in berry trees on the outskirts of Moorland village on the road to Burrowbridge at 3.00pm today. A wonderful site to see on a sunny autumn afternoon!!
