Day-flying Barn Owl

On the way back home after checking out the new tower hide at Catcott (not too much around although it was nice to see half a dozen Stonechats on the walk to the hide), we encountered a Barn Owl about one and a half miles north-west of Burtle at 12.30 this afternoon:(ST 382450). It flew for some distance ahead of our car along the minor road that runs north-east from near the bridge over the River Brue, eventually disappearing from view over the hedge.
