The 12 of us present at this morning’s S.O.S. field meeting enjoyed seeing 200+ Blk-t Godwits, c.90 Knot, 5 Ruff, 2 Dunlin, 2 juv Little Stints, a Green Sandpiper and c.10 Common Snipe on Meare Heath scrape, while a Bittern, standing out in the open, gave brilliant ‘scope views. Also, 2 Great White Egrets, a Kingfisher, a juv Marsh Harrier (another over the back of Noah’s Lake), a Hobby – catching and eating a dragonfly, a Sparrowhawk and 4 Jays. Lots of hirundine activity over Noah’s Lake, where a single Great White Egret was seen.
