Waders Steart 29/08

This morning at least one juv Curlew Sandpiper on Wall Common beach with the ebbing tide in a flock of approx. 800 mixed small waders (juv Dunlin & ad Ringed Plover), including small numbers of juv Knot, and on Steart Marsh three Ruff and four Greenshank. In the last few days Spotted Redshank in breeding plumage on Stert Point, juv Little Ringed Plovers & 80+ Black-tailed Godwit on Steart Marsh.( Waders on Wall Common are usually best seen 60-90 mins after high tide, sooner on small neap tides)

It might be worth mentioning now that the new Mendip Hide overlooking the Steart Lagoon is now open and is well worth a vist

high tide at wall common this morning,
3 curlew sandpipers ( 1 juvenile )
1 knot ,several 100 dunlin & ringed plover
20+ turnstone
1 peregrine spooked all waders
5 wheatear.
