Meare Heath Scrape

At last a few different waders on the scrape today, 2 Ruff coming into summer plumage,1 of which disappeared for 90 mins before returning with a friend;; 1 Redshank, 5 Ringed Plovers and 4 Dunlin, together with the usual Blk Wits which numbered 30 at 1030 but had dwindled to a dozen or so by 1445.

Re: Meare Heath Scrape

Just 2 Dunlin, 1 Redshank and 30 Blk. tld. G'Wits on the scrape this morning very little else in the strong wind ; 1 G.W. Egret called in briefly. Noah's hide was somewhat draughty as the door had fallen off. Hopefully it will be back on tomorrow!

Re: Meare Heath Scrape

As well as the Blackwit flock, 1 Redshank and 5 Dunlin yesterday evening. 2 Ringed Plover later on per Steve Pick.

Re: Meare Heath Scrape

In addition to 40 Blk Wits and 1 Redshank , 4 Whimbrel dropped into the scrape this morning and at the same time three more were present on Noah's lake tree stumps. Happily the hide door has resumed its normal position so draught levels are back to normal.

Re: Meare Heath Scrape

A drake Garganey was just visible for at least two hours today in the (west) open water end of the reeded lagoon that is between the scrape and Ashcott Corner car park . Scrape waders as yesterday less the Whimbrel !
