Steart Marshes - 29 April 2014

Steart Marshes - 29 April 2014 (mid-afternoon)

2 Peregrine (adult male and female - pair?) - loafing about on adjacent pylons.

4 Kestrel (2 adult males and 2 female/immature types) - one male was seen displaying impressively quite high in the sky and the others were hover-hunting.

15+ Common Buzzard - soaring in singles, pairs and groups of up to 7 hawks. Two strikingly marked pale individuals appeared from the South, soared very high together, but ignoring others nearby, and moved off Northwards - possible migrants?

1 Short-eared Owl - hunting by quartering low over the marshes.

Also:

2 Whimbrel
5 Raven
10 Little Egret
2 Lapwing
2 Little Ringed Plover - on an island in the large lagoon.
15+ Skylark
1 Swift - moved over high, Northwards.
