Swifts

7 over Stileway, approx. 16.30 today. Five days later than my first sighting last year but about long term average.

Re: Swifts

Single Swift over Wookey mid morning

Re: Swifts

A couple of swifts seen over one of the farms adjoining Stert Drove this afternoon

Re: Swifts

Group of 5 Swifts arrived over Bove Town and Three Hill View midday today. They drifted back and forth during the afternoon but have now established their location and are feeding over a consistent area. Compared to other sightings these are not outstandingly early or anything, however they are spot on their usual return date. Each year they arrive over us on 3 - 5th May, which I find amazing! Great to see them back. Summer has started!

Re: Swifts

Pair back in nestbox at Wadeford, Near Chard today. They are 9 days later than last year, surprisingly!

Re: Swifts

3 other Yeovil today. As far as I can see, Swifts are spread very thin compared to last year.

Re: Swifts

The swifts returned to Ilminster yesterday, it's lovely to have them screaming over the roof tops. Summer is coming....

Re: Swifts

Swifts back in good numbers over the Brookside area of Street yesterday and this morning. As Robin says, summer feels close.

2 swifts seen in my garden at Moorlynch today but still awaiting the arrival of my neighbours pair, who are yet to return. Fingers crossed.

Re: Swifts

a dozen or so in Cheddar today, around the first school/fire station area, there is usually a gathering roundabout this area most years............... and watched an intruiging ariel battle mid-afternoon with a sparrowhawk chasing a swift for around a minute, got very close but the swift was just too elusive, fascinating to watch and it was just concentrating on the one bird

Re: Swifts

Huge numbers over Shapwick Heath this morning.

Re: Swifts

Re: Swifts

4 Swifts here at Norton Sub Hamdon, which is about normal. Usually much higher numbers in Stoke Sub Hamdon. Wonderful to hear and see, especially against the stormy shy earlier this evening.

Re: Swifts

Good news, my neighbour in Moorlynch has had her breeding pair of swifts return. Very happy to see them at last.
