Group of 5 Swifts arrived over Bove Town and Three Hill View midday today. They drifted back and forth during the afternoon but have now established their location and are feeding over a consistent area. Compared to other sightings these are not outstandingly early or anything, however they are spot on their usual return date. Each year they arrive over us on 3 - 5th May, which I find amazing! Great to see them back. Summer has started!
a dozen or so in Cheddar today, around the first school/fire station area, there is usually a gathering roundabout this area most years............... and watched an intruiging ariel battle mid-afternoon with a sparrowhawk chasing a swift for around a minute, got very close but the swift was just too elusive, fascinating to watch and it was just concentrating on the one bird

4 Swifts here at Norton Sub Hamdon, which is about normal. Usually much higher numbers in Stoke Sub Hamdon. Wonderful to hear and see, especially against the stormy shy earlier this evening.
