Yesterday morrning briefly heard distant cuckoo at Gare Hill. Lapwings seem to have left Mells area which is a great shame-none seen near Mells since last month. Not sure why as usual field seems quite suitable this year.Have also not seen any near Faulkland or Trudoxhill this year uunlike last year.
