Sand Martins at last

I had missed the trickle of Sand Martins seen by others until this morning when I saw a flock of at least 40 over Canada Farm lake.

Several Hundred Sand Martins feeding over Noah's Lake Shapwick in very windy weather this morning, 30 Blk wit's flew over heading west with 1 G.W. Egret and 1 Marsh Harrier present. 3 Garganey still on Walton heath(Ham Wall) this morning not fussed by the RSPB work party who were operating less than 100M away.

Three House Martins over Walton Heath at about 2.30 this afternoon but didn't notice any Sand Martins over the Ham Wall side all day.

50 + sand martins hawking the water at durleigh res this evening..along with several pairs of great crested grebes .....

5 passed over Catcott hide this afternoon.

At least 150 at Durleigh and c.75 on Curry Moor this afternoon.

Still 30 sandmartins at durleigh rev sunday morning and 12 great -c-grebes Ashcott hawkridge enmore rev very few birds.

100+ hawking low over rhynes on Wetmoor yesterday close to the road - probably lots more further across the moor..

At least 25 sand martins were seen at Town Tree Nature Garden this morning. Initially they were active and fairly high however later a number were seen at low level above the main lake.

10 plus singing chiffchaffs have been present for a week and a couple of blackcaps, not thought to be over winterers, were calling this morning.

No sign of cranes.
