A juv Glaucous Gull and a juv Iceland Gull were on estuary at golf course end of Dunster Beach late morning. Both seemed to fly over to fields behind golf course. The Glaucous was then in a distant flock of gulls loafing in a field towards Butlins. It had a bad left leg which trailed in flight and wasn't the bird from Wimbleball last night.
The Glaucous Gull was on the tideline at Blue Anchor this evening. Didn't see the Iceland Gull again but a German ringed adult Med Gull was at Dunster earlier.
Glaucous gull showning well thursday teatime Dunster Beach from where the river goes out also at allerford in the sheep fields 1 adult med gull in summer dress and a 1st winter last weekend there were 2 adult med gulls in the same fields
The Glaucous flew high over Dunster Railway Station in heavy rain at 4.45pm towards the coast. The trailing leg easily visible even at this height and a useful if unfortunate feature to show it is the same bird at a distance. It also limps and tends to lean to the right when stood on the beach. The first time I have seen it since Tuesday.
Yesterday morning the Glaucous was eating a fish on the beach at Blue Anchor when I drove past. A quick look this morning at Dunster Beach and it was on the tideline opposite the car park.
Glaucous gull still on Dunster beach at teatime straight out from the carpark
Also today the 2 med gulls in the sheep fields at allerford
At wallcommon no sign of the Richard pipit
The Glaucous Gull flew east over the pub at Blue Anchor at 5.10pm. It landed on rocks for 10 mins and then flew up high and soared towards Watchet. Very mobile and more often seen in flight and not seen daily recently.
The Glaucous Gull again at Blue Anchor this morning after high tide favouring the area in front of Driftwood Cafe. Also 70+ Sand Martins moved west along the beach/sea wall in an hour, they were still going through when I left.
The long staying Glaucous Gull was joined by another juvenile at 12.30 at Blue Anchor and both birds were still present when I left at 1pm. One to three hours after high tide seems best to see the regular bird here.
Both Glaucous Gulls again at Blue Anchor on the sea at 10.30am. The long stayer is seen daily here and the other bird today was the same one that was here in March and last seen briefly on 25th.
The two Glaucous Gulls were on the sea at Blue Anchor early this morning at high tide. Sometimes one or both birds wander off but I've seen both at some point every day since 3rd April. The long stayer has now been around for 50 days!
