For the first time for several weeks I came upon a decent sized mixed flock of around 200 winter thrushes this afternoon heading East along Trips Drove near Godney. I reckon at least 80 per cent were Fieldfare and the rest Redwings
Redwings seem to be returning to the Westhay area. I have seen several flocks along the lanes near the village and there has been 20 or so on the Holly bush across the road from the peat moors centre car park. Why they didn't strip that bush before is an interesting question-is it much later ripening?
