Spotted crake

hi my father was at heron's Green Bay chew valley lake about 9:00 this morning searching the line of reeds that are in the left Hand corner of the bay for water rails and is convinced he saw a spotted crake at first he thought he had seen a water rail then realised that it did not have a long red bill and that it was a short bill and did not show any white at at its backend and a.moorhen walked past it and the bird was much smaller, any feed back to would be welcome. Finders name John Simpson. Cheers.
