hi my father was at heron's Green Bay chew valley lake about 9:00 this morning searching the line of reeds that are in the left Hand corner of the bay for water rails and is convinced he saw a spotted crake at first he thought he had seen a water rail then realised that it did not have a long red bill and that it was a short bill and did not show any white at at its backend and a.moorhen walked past it and the bird was much smaller, any feed back to would be welcome.
