Having unsuccessfully searched the top of Mendip above Westbury several times in the past two weeks for whinchat, I decided to try Westbury Moor tonight.
I was amazed to come across a party of eight individuals, the most I have ever seen together at one time!
Approximately 6 winchats still present at Greylake car park at 9am this morning feeding in the elderberry bushes.
Also 2 possibly 3 Kingfishers fishing in the pool in front of the hide.
Quite a few swallows feeding frantically throughout the reserve.
Loads of various warblers moving through. A very good morning!!
Five Whinchats on Curry Moor this afternoon along with three Wheatears.
Other migrants included two Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler and a Whitethroat amongst a small tit flock feeding on blackberry bushes near Hook Bridge.
