Sono state rese note da poco le nomination ai prossimi Grammy Awards, equivalente musicale di ciò che rappresentano i premi Oscar per il cinema che verranno assegnati - per la cinquantacinquesima volta dalla propria istituzione - dalla National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences il prossimo 10 febbraio nel corso di una serata di gala che si terrà allo Staples Center di Los Angeles, in California: a raccogliere il maggior numero di candidature - sei, in totale - sono stati i FUN., in lizza nelle tre categorie di punta, "Record of the year", "Album of the year" e "Song of the year". Sempre a quota sei nomination si sono attestati anche Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Jay-Z, Kanye West e Dan Auerbach dei Black Keys (una delle quali, per quest'ultimo, nella sezione dedicata al "produttore dell'anno"): i due big dell'hip hop a stelle e strisce, Jay-Z e Kanye West, sono stati costretti ad accontentarsi di nomination minori, mentre Taylor Swift ha visto, per limiti di tempo, accettare nella categoria "Canzone dell'anno" il primo singolo - “We are never ever getting back together” - estratto dal suo nuovo album, "Red", che tuttavia - essendo stato pubblicato un mese dopo il termine fissato per l'edizione 2013 - è rimasto escluso dalla corsa per il titolo di "Disco dell'anno".

Grandi assenti, almeno dalle categorie maggiori, sono Rihanna e Drake, relegati in sezioni minori come, ad esempio, quella "Best rap/sung collaboration".
