Come tutti gli anni anche per questo 2011 appena iniziato i 160 (fra critici musicali e addetti ai lavori) della Radio n. 1 in Uk -la BBC- hanno stilato la loro personale graduatoria dentro la quale si trova colui/colei -o coloro- destinato a diventare 'the next big thing', così come succede in pratica tutti gli anni (negli scorsi anni ci avevano azzeccato coi nomi di Adele, Ellie Goulding, Little Boots e altri).

La rosa dei contendenti finalisti di quest'anno era la seguente:
