NWA Mid-Atlantic Show Results (Seoul, South Korea) -- Sting vs. Billy Gunn?

Courtesy: www.1wrestling.com

(1.) Riki Nelson def. Buff Bagwell

A funny spot to start the match saw Buff climb the turn buckle and get cheers from the crowd, then Riki climbed and got booed, then the referee climbed and got cheered. The match was basically Riki getting the best of Buff. Buff made a comeback at the end, but when Buff went for his finisher and climbed to the second rope he was hit in the back with a chair by Terry Taylor. Nelson scored the pin and would set up the Tag Team Title Match later in the night.

(2.) The Barbarian (c) def. Bane (Mid-Atlantic Hardcore Championship Match)

The match was the low point of the night. Some Hardcore was worked in, but the crowd wasn't into that much. Most of the match Bane worked over Barbarian but couldn't come up with the pin. The finish saw a ref bump, then Barberian grab the championship belt and hit Bane with it and then toss the belt out and got the pin.

Billy Gunn comes out and talks about how he is the biggest star to ever come to Korea, but people are only talking about Sting. He says he hasn't seen Sting since he got to Korea. As he continues to talk, on the video screen is Sting. Gunn then tells Sting to get to the ring and then returns to the back.

(3.) Gail Kim & Lollipop def. Nidia & Malia Hosaka

Gail Kim gets a huge pop from the crowd as she was announced being from Seoul, Korea. Gail was about to talk on the mic when she is attacked and the match begins. Match is a decent tag match. Pretty much the heels working over Lollipop and Gail Kim, getting the hot tag and the pin to win the match.

(4.) DDP def. Raven ("Raven's Rules Match")

Raven comes out first and runs down the crowd, saying English is the premiere language in the world. He says Koreans are his least favorite people in the world. Also makes refernce to Rikidozan being a nobody which didn't get a response from the crowd. DDP made his way out got on the mic and said "Annyohasio." Which is a reference to “Hello how are you today?” Page goes on about how he knows how to speak Korean and that Raven doesn't know how to speak Korean.

The match starts off and they do some brawling through the crowd for about 5 minutes. They took the action back to the ring with Raven in control. He did the drop toe hold into the chair spot twice, then Raven hit the Even Flow DDT but Page kicks out. Raven goes for the toe hold spot again this time Page counters. Page would then hit the Diamond Cutter and the three count. Page would celebrate in the crowd.

(5.) "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes & Buff Bagwell def. Terry Taylor & Riki Nelson (c) (Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Title Match)

The fans started to chant Rooster at Terry Taylor. He does his Rooster strut to the cheers from the fans. The match was your basic tag match. bad guys cheat and Buff is getting the beatdown. The end had Buff hitting his finisher and getting the pin. Dusty then planted a big kiss on Dakota and she would leave with Dusty and Buff. Nelson and Taylor tease a break up, only to hug at the end.

(6.) NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett def. X-Division Champion AJ Styles

The match of the night by far. It was amazing to me to see how over AJ Styles is. The crowd was behind him 100%. Both guys worked real hard in the match, put on a real good match. They went about 12 to 15 minutes. The crowd really wanted to see AJ win the title, even though there was no way that was going to happen on a Mid Atlantic event. Match started out with both when countering every move and getting a ovation from the crowd. Following that they would move to the floor, with AJ diving through the ropes and hitting Jarrett. They brawled at ringsidem then ended up back in the ring where it would settle down with Jarrett taking control. Towards the end, AJ would end up back in control and would get a few nearfalls. The finish saw AJ up on the top rope. Jarrett threw the referee into the ropes, knocking AJ down. Jarrett would grab the guitar and would attempt to hit AJ. Styles ducks then goes to the top rope to hit The Styles Clash. Jarrett blocks it some how, hits The Stroke and gets the 3 count.

(7.) Sting def. Billy Gunn (Main Event -- Special Grudge Match)

A disappointing match to me as they went five minutes or so. Gunn worked hard. Sting was kind of there, did his signature spots and a lot of screaming. The finish saw Gunn go Famouser. Sting counters and hits The Scorpion Death Drop for a three count. Sting would then shake some hands and leave. Billy Gunn would stay out for about five more minutes shaking hands and playing to the crowd. He did a funny spot where he would raise his hand, as to say he won then the referee would yank down his hand and then he would put the other hand up.

No-shows: Dustin Rhodes (who was supposed to be in the Tag Team Title Match with Dusty), Scott Hall (who was scheduled to face Sting), and Jeff Hardy.
