Attention HHS Class of 1967!

To All Members of HHS Class of 1967:

Dan Dobrowski and I are heading up an effort to establish a database of contact info on all classmembers of Hammond High's 1967 graduating class.

I think we are up to 36 confirmed email addresses, with phone numbers and mailing addresses to go along with most of them. We have several more sets of contact info that we "inherited" from the 25th Class Reunion, and we are in the process of checking them out to see if they are still valid.

The first step is to get contact info on as many classmates as we possibly can, and then we will see where we go from there. We are almost afraid to say the word "reunion" out loud, but we hope that we can organize a 40th Class Reunion.

Even if the 40th Reunion doesn't happen, we hope to end up with a good set of contact info, getting all of us in contact with one another again.

I have been having an absolute blast talking on the phone with classmates with whom I have had no contact in 39 years. I have also enjoyed exchanging emails with some of these folks.

Please, email me with your contact info and with contact info that you may have for other classmates. This way you can get on our maling list and be kept up to date on any reunion plans.

Please, let me hear from you!

Re: Attention HHS Class of 1967!

Things are progressing very nicely in our project! We have contact info for over 100 classmates.

We are now actually using the "R" word. Yep, we are in the very earliest stages of planning a 40th reunion.

If you have not been contacted, it's because we don't know how to contact you. We want NO ONE to be left out, so please, email me!

Here's a little poem I wrote yesterday.

Friends Forever, The Class of 67
By Tom Johnson, 8/9/06

We remember with fondness
Our days at Hammond High
Can it be that forty years
Have gone so quickly by?

Does not our laughter yet echo
Through those hallowed halls?
Shouted greetings to our friends
Within those strong brick walls

We each had our hopes,
And we all had our dreams
So eager, so anxious,
We were bursting at the seams

We were imbued with the love
Of our moms and our dads,
Their hopes pinned upon us,
They’d given us the best that they had

Life took us each
Our own separate ways
But now we look back
On those sweet childhood days

The years have flown by,
As if in a blur
And it’s time now to remember
What good friends we were

You are my classmate,
And I love you, my friend.
How good it would be
To grow up with you all over again.

Yes, we grew up together
In the same time and place,
And the memories of you
Put a smile on my face.

Your face looks up at me
From the yearbook page
And for just a few moments
We are once again that age.

Most of us are still here
But some are in Heaven
Together we stand,
The Class of 67

Found Class ring from Hammond HS 1967
About 20 years ago my young daughter found a Hammond HS girls ring dated 1967 with the initials of either KD or KO. I think she found it on a beach here in Chicago. When we moved around that time we packed a lot of stuff away. Wife and I were doing some Spring cleaning when I came across the ring among things of our daughter.

If it belongs to someone you know with those initials we'll send it.

George:

Thanks!

I will try to get the word around to those for whom I have contact information and whose initials would have been either KD or KO in 1967.

Please hang onto the ring in the meantime.

God bless.

Tom
