I guess the primary goal of this website is to reunite members of the Hammond High School Class of 1959, and I hope we have done this in part.


Now the question is, "Should we have a HHS 1959 Class Reunion and what is the best way to accomplish this goal?"


One option is to have Regional Class Reunions...




There is a group of HHS59 classmates on the East Coast, for example. It may be easier to host an East Coast class reunion for the 30 or so class members living in the East. Likemanner, there are several classmates living on the West Coast who would find it more convenient to have a reunion in that part of the United States.




Then, of course, the primary reunion would be in the Hammond/Merrillville area. This does not have to be a formal evening dinner dance like it was on the 25th class reunion. It might just be an informal, day-long picnic. With the Maid-Rite Hamburger recipe now perfected, it might be fun to serve Maid-Rite Hamburgers, chips and "bring-your-own-bottle" (like we did in high school...)


So what do you think?


(a) Should a class reunion be a centrally organized single event or based on a regional plan?


(b) Should a class reunion be a formal dinner-dance affair, or an informal picnic gathering? (or something in-between...)


(c) Should a class reunion be scheduled for one day or for a multiple day (weekend) event?


(d) Is there a particular location or venue that is preferred?


(e) How important is cost, overnight accommodations, etc., to make sure that everyone can afford to participate and be comfortable in doing so...




NOW... to make this all happen, we need to extend the network of HHS'59 classmates who may not have internet/computer access. If you know of any classmates, names-address-phone, etc., be sure to email that information to us. We will add them to the Classmates directory page...

Very nice restaurant in Schererville, on US 41, named Andorra, that I think would be an excellent place for a reunion. It's about a mile north of US 30, has excellent food, good service, and the main room can seat about 600, or it can be divided in two and still have a full bar. In addition, it's close to several motels. Wayne Lander
