Made the 69 Cruise, was V-2 Arresting Gear, was a hook runner and then moved up to pri-fly. Left the Hawk in Nov 70, just 2 days before she left for west pac again.
Hey Greg! I remember you from the MAA Shack in '69.
We had some good times back then. I was sad to hear the old gal has been put out to pasture, but She deserves a rest.
I also know the 'Hawk received the N.U.C. for the '69 cruise, but did she receive any other awards during the same cruise? maybe the VN Cross of Gallantry? I read in another post on here that it was awarded for a later cruise; it is my impression that any and all units that fought for SVN got that award from them upon leaving the area. Can anyone shed some light on this?
