Flag officers from the Republic of Vietnam came aboard during the 1973-1974 WESTPAC and conducted an award ceremony on the hanger deck. They presented the RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm to the Kitty Hawk for action in Operation Linebacker, May-October 1972.
