There's been a number of posts on Facebook that cannot be verified or that are outright wrong. I have no idea why but there seems to be an influx quite a number of new people over there who have nothing to do with the Kitty Hawk, who are insulting her and her service and who are spreading these claims.
She's still in Bremerton, she's still in Inactive Reserve status and will be at least until the USS Gerald Ford is commissioned at which time the Navy will begin to determine her final fate.
When a choice is made as to what the Navy will do with her there will be press releases, there will be articles written...for sure the local Bremerton news will be a buzzing.
Bottom line, she's a long way from the scrapping yard, rest easy shipmate.
Well that shows the value of Facebook any one can talk trash and others reply it will be a very sad day if our Navy Headquarters don't value the Kitty Hawks value to history.

Facebook and other media outlets are nothing more for the NSA to track our freedom of speak & violate our rights, everything you say emails, texts, smartphone, downloads etc. are be recorded and tracked by the NSA. ( patriot act my ass) Our country's constitution been step on more times under the bush and Obama administrations then any other time in our history, vote in a non - political connected leader and see how fast we get back on the right track.
Probably a case of mistaken identity. The USS Ranger was towed from Bremerton to Brownsville and is being cut up for scrap as we speak. Ranger arrived Brownsville on 13 July 2015. The company who towed her was paid one penny and salvage rights for the tow job.
