Westpac Cruise 1972

Trying to get in touch with guys who served during the 1972 cruise to Vietnam. Wrote a short novel about the riot; it's on Kindle Books via Amazon.com. If you don't have a Kindle, you can download the App to your computer or smartphone and see it that way. Any input or additional information would be great!

Re: Westpac Cruise 1972

Bob, I was on the 1972 cruise and in X-division in the Ship's Admin office as leading yeoman. My best friend Dan Irwin was a yeoman in the Legal office. Those were some turbulent racial times in the military and in civilian life.

Sure, I remember you Tom! You still live in So Cal? I'm in Ventura, and retired. It's difficult to surf or play golf, then come home and take a nap...

Re: Westpac Cruise 1972

Hi Bob, leaving in Nashville, TN since 1977. Still working.

Re: Westpac Cruise 1972

Bob, Perry Pettus V-1 during the cruise, did you read or review Troubled Waters by Gregory Freeman ,also the PBS documentary & DVD Angle Of Attack?
Freeman did a outstanding job I think with detail. I was part of his research along with quit a few others who I remember. I also flew to New York for a part in Angle Of Attack. I hope to read your book soon!
That was a day and night I'll never forget!!!!!!!!!

Re: Westpac Cruise 1972

Thanks for the note, Perry. Yes, I did read Gregory Freeman's "Troubled Water", and I agree it was well presented. I actually referenced it in my own book with credits. I haven't read "Angle of Attack", but I will look it up.

Best Regards,
