I was excited to get off the ship in '75 to go into Olongapo. But I had not gotten my shot card filled. I HATED THOSE SHOTS...still do. But I spent morning getting enough shots that I lost count. Finally, we heard liberty called. We beat feet to Magsaysay. A group of us decided on the Zanzibar Club a ways down on the left. I have never liked beer, but I tried a San Magoo. Watery ptuiiii!!! But at least it didn't taste too much like beer. Haha. Well, about then I started getting sick, side effects of the shots, I guess. I went up stairs where I spent the night. So miserable!! My buddy would come up occasionally to make sure I hadn't died. I just wished I had. The next morning I saw the crowd begin to gather in the street, so it must have been after 6am. I was still partly delirious but managed to wander back to the Kitty. I was glad I was night check. That'll teach me to put off my responsibiilities.....nah, I guess it didn't.
