Kitty Hawk Memorabilia

My brother William McChesney served on the Kitty Hawk, picking the ship up in Philadelphia when commissioned. I was only 5 at the time, and my parents brought me down from our NJ home to attend the event I think in 1960 or 61.

Bill served on the Kitty Hawk for most of his 9 years in the service, with a number of those years off the shores of Vietnam.

Bill passed away in 2001. I have a number of cruise books and other novelty items. Not sure if there is a repository of this type information, but wanted to reach out before deciding what to do with the material.

Re: Kitty Hawk Memorabilia

John, The day you were on the ship was Apr. 29, 1961. We have a historian who is in charge of memorabilia. His name is Jim Strahl and if you go to the home page and click on Officers you will find the info on how to get in touch with him. If you can't reach him get in touch with Jim Melka our President he will be able to help you. Sorry to hear about your brother hopefully his memorabilia can be put to good use.
