April 2, 1972 , we left Subic Bay. Flight operations commenced on 3 April with Strikes into DMZ area. The first Alfa strikes into NorthVietnam were flown on 7 April. From this time until 1 May the area of operations alternated from North to South Vietnam depending on the weather and stricke requirements. After 1 May, Kitty Hawk worked exclusively in North Vietnam. Alfa strickes and A-6 night missions were used extensively. Beginning on 12 May, a mining campaign was mounted on North Vietnamese ports, river mounts and inland waterways. We were back in Subic Bay on the 23rd of May.
What a relief! I was in A-Div.,AC&R Shop in 6AC across from the Armory. I also was a DJ on KTTY-FM. Had an all request show from 11a-1p. Went by Lefty 50's 60's and Classic Rock. Thanks for Info! Mike
