my dad, James (Jim) Lanier, Joint Intel Center 68-69
Please help!
I am looking for someone who knew my father, James K. Lanier who was the chief in charge of the Joint Intel Center aboard the USS Kitty Hawk on the cruise in 1968 - 1969 (before the ship went to dry dock in Bremerton).
Specifically, anyone who knew or has pictures of him in-country in VietNam. The problem is that because of his job and security clearance, there apparently isn't any paperwork -- Dad wasn't "supposed to be" in-country but he says he did indeed go. My father is now suffering from prostrate cancer and I would like to prove the presumptive for VA purposes for exposure to herbicides (i.e., Agent Orange). I did read the post from an ordnance person who states that he and his crew did not handle AO on board ship.
However, if I can show the minimum of one day as is required by the VA, I can get my dad some help from the VA.
