Are you sure that was Bruce Valentine? My ex was onboard and worked in an engine room during that time and his name was Bob Valentine. He is deceased now so I can't ask him where he was during that time. I was just looking for some connection to the Kittyhawk for the kids and grandkids.
i worked in the 2 main engineer room from 81'84. very dangerous place to be 1200psi superheated stame at 975 degrees. 3 teams of kids no older than 21 run the show.. while in tour in the indian ocean we stood watch while underway in 118 degree heat only fresh in was a few supply vents pipped into the boiler and engine rooms.
