Hey Steve, I didn't know you or John Gilligan, but I was stationed onboard the HAWK from 72-75, too. I was up in ESO, so while we didn't know each other, our paths probably crossed. I am good with names, and your name does sound familiar, though I don't exactly know why. My brother Joe also did time on the HAWK. a lot of it in ESO, USAFI. You remember the WESTPAC cruise of 73-74...Mombasa, Singapore, the Shellback initiation. It feels good to see other guys from my era online. I was beginning to think there was none of us left. By the way...are you planning on going to the reunion? E-mail me back.
Your name sounds familar, but can't say for sure.
I was in #1MMR from 1968 - 1972. I got off in Subic Bay in March of 72 and sent to Mare Island for discharge. (Happiest day of my life!!)
Just thought I'd say hello......
