CDS Steel tubing

Does anybody know where I can get the correct steel tube for building a roll cage for my class 2? Everybody I have spoke to so far has said Parker Steel but I have just got off the phone to them and they insist they do not do any seamless steel tube whatsoever?
Also does it have to be made of cds tube if its a "nasa permitted non-propriety manufacted roll cage" (which I assume means one I made myself?)
or can I use what parker steel call "cold formed circular hollow section"?

Re: CDS Steel tubing

Hi Tristram,

The majority of local rollcage constructors use The Circular Hollow Section tube supplied by Parker Steel. It's of the correct size and wall thickness to comply with the NASA rulebook. It also bends easily in a pipe bender and former.

The minimum approved size is 32mm diameter with a wall thickness of 2.5mm. I think Parker's size is slightly over this at 33.7mm dia. and 2.5mm wall thickness.

Hope this helps!

Re: CDS Steel tubing

Thanks Neil, that's a great help :-)

Re: CDS Steel tubing

Hi I know this is an older post
but i am looking to buy cds tube to build a cage, I emailed Mr Ramsey at Parker steel and this was his reply

Unfortunately we cannot do seamless tubes

So any other ideas where to buy

They say the size 31.75 outside diameter x 2.64mm wall, 12swg Cold drawn seamless carbon steel is the size we are to use which is a nats off 32mm
