Catcott Lows still lacks water!

Morning visit to Catcott Lows revealed 7 Exmoor Ponies plus a few cattle. Very very little surface water visible. Managed 6 Wigeon and 4 Teal. Later at Westhay nothing along London Drove, even less from the Viridor hide on Daggs Lane but then the Leucistic Snipe was in front of the Island hide for 2 hrs. making up for other birds that were keeping out of the wind.

Brief visit yesterday afternoon. All grazing animals now removed. Water levels creeping up. Some 50 Wigeon and similar number of Teal present.

Re: Catcott Lows still lacks water!

1500hrs visit (water level marginally up, now 1.58 above datum!). but still difficult viewing. Several hundred Wigeon present and around 100 Teal; 20 Shoveller scattered around with a few Mallard and 6 Pintail were the highlight. 10 Snipe circled low ,disappearing into the plentiful vegetation plus a G.W. Egret briefly.
En route from Wells via Lewis's Drove on Westhay Moor at 1415 I saw a Cattle Egret in company with 3 Little Egrets opposite the Winrow Nursery in the Maize stubble field
