Yes. My plan is to get the photos in early. That way when you take your better ones everyone will have forgotten about mine anyway and won't make any comparisons :-D
Osprey took two goes this afternoon to catch what may have been a large roach in pouring rain. Apparently it caught a fish earlier in the day in front of the hide.
Osprey in flight this evening between 8.10 - 8.30pm, caught a smallish fish on fifth attempt. Also about half a dozen Swift present in the fading light.
Wonderful, if distant views of Osprey. It hunted once at 8am, caught a small fish on the fourth attempt, flew around unsure which tree stump to land on. Then it flew again at 13:00 and caught a much bigger fish on its first attempt. Also seen to catch a fish at 20:00 is last night. So there is a guide to the current frequency of flying
Kingfishers x3 in front of hide.
2 different Marsh Harriers, hobby and sparrowhawk also seen, along with a few swans.
Interesting to read those times Robin. Today the resident (temporarily) osprey fished successfully just before I arrived, which would have been about 8am, and again at about 1:30 - so very similar times.
A second osprey arrived mid-morning. The two circled around together for a while until the newcomer left. This was repeated later in the morning. There was no obvious aggression but it was assumed the newcomer had been asked to leave.
So today the Osprey at Noah's fished at 8am and caught a very large fish, and then again at 14:00. If anyone is interested I will post a few images from the success at 14:00 on my Flickr site later.
So the bird had good meal at 8:30 and then departed. What a shame it has now moved on. It was great to watch and how about this for a final image. https://flic.kr/p/xP7p15
Hopefully there is still time for another bird to drop in.
