A big shock when a Stone Curlew went over Mells Down around 6pm. Only seen very briefly but heard approaching from behind a line of trees near our car. Judging by the sound and distance it may well have circled round before flying through. Arrived from the general direction of Mells. Seen over Hatchet Hill towards Ammerdown. It was then straight on to xeno canto for me. Only the second time I've experienced this. The previous occasion being in mid-France.
