Just one pair Swallows back on territory here in Muchelney where we normally have 4-6 pairs. Indeed very sadly this appears to be replicated in the surrounding area.................?

Have been told that during all the strong Easterly and Westerly winds which went on for weeks , that many have been landing on the cross-channel ferries and quite a few have been seen to drop into the sea exhausted ...suppose hormones have been driving them forward even though conditions haven't been good ? Our 'own ' 2 pairs which nest in our shed still haven't appeared despite them being elsewhere on the village wires etc .
