10-Apr-15
After an unsuccessful long trudge over the top and along the flank of Crook Peak looking for Ring Ouzel and seeing just 2 Robins, 4 Meadow Pipits, 6 Linnets, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and 3 Buzards; I called into Cheddar Res and saw at least 5 Little Gulls (4 super adults) hawking insects with Black-headed Gulls in the SW corner as distantly viewed from the Cheddar Tower.
Per Twitter, this morning: 3 adult Little Gulls at Durliegh Res, and 17 Ring Ouzels at Embercombe Head, Exmoor.
By 15.00 this afternoon there were at least eleven Little Gulls present in the south-west corner. Appeared to be eight full adults, two adults with incomplete hoods and a first-winter
11 Little Gull still present at 7.30 this evening. All flying high and feeding around the southern edge. However, even better was 2 Sandwich Tern- my first patch record in 29 years of watching!
