Whimbrel at Sand Bay

Very low tide this morning. 11.30am Single whimbrel out on the mudflats beyond the saltmarsh near Sand Point; also scattered curlew, oystercatchers; 10 shelduck feeding on the mud, and a flock of golden plover down by the water.

Incredibly early for a Whimbrel, probably the earliest record for the Avon recording area but nearly a month.

To ensure the record is not lost can you please formally submit the record, with identification notes, to the Avon bird recorder.

Will do. One also recorded in Dorset about 10 days ago I see.
