An early pm short walk at Stock Hill today.Generally quiet time of day but the dead larches were alive with mixed flocks - up to 30 Coal tits, the same number of Siskins and small numbers of Lesser Redpolls. Other tits Blue and Great 3-4 of each and a couple of Goldcrests seen but many others heard.
Not only were there no LEOs when we searched the plantation on the night of 27th but not a single Tawny heard either. Zero counts are good for science but not for morale.
