Field Meeting Wall Common/Steart

A reminder that the next Field Meeting is this Saturday February 7th at 0930. Meet in the WWT Reserve car park. The main leader will be Brian Gibbs. Should be a good day with lots of birds on offer.

Re: Field Meeting Wall Common/Steart

A very good meeting was enjoyed by around twenty of us, the highlights were...
2 Whooper Swans, a Chiffchaff, several Stonechats, a Common Sandpiper, 4 Blk-t Godwits, 8 Avocets, numerous Grey and Golden Plovers, a huge wheeling flock of Dunlin and Knot, a Merlin - seen by a fortunate few before it dashed off, 6 Jack Snipe, a small flock of Linnets, a Short-eared Owl and close views of a Lapland Bunting.

Thanks to the leader, Brian Gibbs.

Re: Field Meeting Wall Common/Steart

Hmmmm... You guys did a bit better than us.

Managed:
2 Whoopers
1 brief Short Eared Owl
1 Great White Egret
Numerous Snipe from the road leading to Wall Common
Plus the regular suspects

Photos on the blog (which I have changed half a dozen times). I hate technical problems. Who thought photography was supposed to be enjoyable?

Re: Field Meeting Wall Common/Steart

Sorry. Here is the link to a far away Short Eared owl. A far away Great White Egret. A far away... you get the idea.
